Founded in 2010 by Reese Blahuta and Kevin Keeney, 1950 Clothing Co. was born in Portland, Oregon as an idea that today’s outlaw bit has gotten out of hand. Consumers need an alternative to the mass market, big name brands and bands that seem to appear everywhere on everyone.
We’re here for those who want to hear real country. Songs that remind us that we’re not alone in our struggles, and the great support we’ve received represents that. Our staff consists of and promotes local country artists, rodeo workers, cowboys and outlaws. Thanks to our efforts promoting local country musicians and
regional stars, we’ve been able to keep authentic outlaw country the way it should be… unfiltered, uncensored, and raw. 1950 Clothing wants to return country music to its roots, one song at a time.
So take a moment and browse our online outpost. We hope you enjoy our selection and encourage you to return regularly to view our new items and designs. Also, we’d love to hear from you through our Contact Us Form. Tell us what you like and what you’d like to see.
WHO WE ARE
“He was dressed like 1950, half drunk and hollow eyed” - The Ride by David Allan Coe
1950 is real country music inspired clothing, for the outlaw in all of us. Supporting authentic artists to reclaim our sound, 1950 Clothing Co. is for those of us who want to be unique and distinctive with country attitude.
Consumers need an alternative to the mass market, big name brands and bands that seem to appear everywhere and on everyone. No arena rock country singers, no rapping, no auto-tune; just the taste of whiskey lining a worn in saloon and passion.
It is for those of us who want to stand out with Outlaw Attitude. Our design aesthetic is inspired by Nashville… '76, not '16. Straightforward, hardworking, hard living country music… before the suits got it. That’s what we believe in – Country isn’t just what you got on but staying true to what’s inside, Outlaw country soul.
PAYING IT FORWARD, BY GIVING IT BACK
Each shirt is inspired by a classic country music song, and a portion of our proceeds goes to supporting live, local, authentic artists. We sponsor local open mic nights, hire musicians to perform, and even hold the 1950 Sessions to interview and tape great local performances. Local musicians are what keep good country music alive, and we’re here to raise our glasses in support.
Every week, we host a #livelivelocal performance
on our Facebook Page to bring you the best local country music has to offer. Always raw, and always passionate, our live concerts are just one way we give back and grow good country.
1950 Clothing represents the best red dirt, Texas country and outlaw music around. We support local artists, and local artists
support us.
INSPIRED BY THE GREATS, FOR THE GREATS
Wherever there’s Waylon Jennings on the jukebox, you’re not far away from 1950. You can find answers to a lot of life’s problems with authentic country music. It’s relatable, the passion, struggle, and pursuit that comes through the lyrics.
Some of the greats, Willie, Coe, Cash, Merle are still relevant 40 or 50 years after a song was released, because people can relate. We don’t want future generations to lose sight of the inspiration that real country music provides, and we’re here to take back true country sound.
